Miscarriage support group launchedA GROUP to help women in the Burnley and Pendle area who have suffered a miscarriage has been set up.

Women who have lost a baby are welcome to go along for support and friendship. It is hoped meetings will be held every two weeks.

The group has been set up by Ruth Snape (27) who lost a baby on Christmas Eve last year when she was 12 weeks' pregnant.

Ruth, who lives in Rossendale, said she felt lost after the miscarriage and formed the group to help other women in that situation.

She said: "It was many months of extreme lows and constant searching for some face to face support, but I found nothing in Lancashire. I felt so lonely and felt I would never get through it.

"I became determined to set up a miscarriage support group for Lancashire so it could make a difference to other people after losing their baby. At present I have got a few people wanting to attend the group and others offering support in the way of fund-raising."

The first meeting is to be held on May 15th, at a venue to be confirmed. Anyone interested can contact Ruth on 07591 801937.

A fund-raising evening at Ger-Hana Mongolian Restaurant in Oswaldtwistle is also being held on May 26th and tickets are £12.95 each, available from Ruth on ruthsnape1@talktalk.net .
