The dictionary defines grief as “keen mental suffering or distress over affliction or loss”. That pretty much sums up what it is, but what can you do to help in the healing of it? There are a few things that you can do to help ease some of the pain. You do NOT however want to ignore it or “make it go away”. That my friend is a dangerous decision that will have lifelong repercussions. Integrative healing is the best approach.
First of all, all of the feelings you are having are normal and natural. They may come and go; get better and worse. They are not static, but in reality always ebbing and waning through the process of healing. You are NOT crazy and there is no such thing as "getting over it". It is a matter of integrating the experience into your being.
