Father's Day painful for some

people seem to expect grief from the mother but seldom from the fatherOver the years, I have heard from several fathers on the subject of miscarriages. As we near Father's Day, I have asked them whether I could share their thoughts with you, because a miscarriage for these fathers was a sobering experience. They would like us to learn from their observations.

They all agree that people seem to expect grief from the mother but seldom from the father. They also note that while people are trying to be consoling, they are extremely uncomfortable with silence and often speak before they think. One woman called their loss "a try” instead of a baby.
