Sudden Death - Stillbirth

Sudden Death - StillbirthThere is a form of sudden death that is shrouded in mystery and sensitivity - stillbirth. This is when the developing infant dies suddenly in the womb. This can sometimes be explained, such as when the foetus chokes after it is entangled in the umbilical cord.

In Singapore, a stillbirth is defined as foetal death after the 28th week of pregnancy but before delivery.

Foetal death in utero (while still in the uterus) before the 28th week is considered a late miscarriage. A full term is typically between 37 and 42 weeks.
