I have followed the harrowing stories of Eliza Abbaszadeh and Monica O'Grady as one who shares the same pain and carries a very similar scar.
In the very early hours of Jan. 6, 1990, I was awakened by what I knew to be labour pains. I was terrified. I was only 29 weeks pregnant.
My husband and I woke up our 7-year-old twin sons, bundled them into the car, and drove to St. Mary's Hospital in the cold and the dark, in a state of anguish. Our twins were asked to wait down in the lobby with a security guard while I was admitted.
